When Life Feels Like Chaos… and You Realise You Might Be the One Steering It

When Life Feels Like Chaos… and You Realise You Might Be the One Steering It

There are days when you stop for a second… usually mid-laundry pile, mid-text reply, mid-“what was I even doing?”… and think:

“Where did all this chaos come from… and how on earth do I make it STOP?!?”

If you’ve ever felt like that, you’re not alone my darling.

Because midlife especially can feel like one long juggling act.

The dog is barking.
The phone is pinging.
There’s shopping to do, meals to make, laundry that never seems to end, and odd socks to find… plus a mental list of things you already forgot you needed to remember.

And somewhere in all of that… you’re supposed to feel calm, balanced, and in control?

Honestly? That expectation alone is enough to make anyone laugh.
Or cry.
Or both.

I used to look at my life and feel like everything was happening to me.

Like I was just reacting.

Putting out fires.
Catching up.
Trying to stay one step ahead of everything and still falling behind.

But then something shifted.

I started noticing something uncomfortable… but also incredibly empowering.

A lot of the chaos in my life wasn’t just random.

It was created by choices I had made over time.

No blame game. Just the truth.

And that’s when I had a bit of a wake-up moment:

If I had enough power to create this level of chaos…
then I also had enough bloody power to change it.

Not instantly.
And certainly not perfectly.
But definitely.

I actually had a wee laugh to myself when I said it:

“I am the reason this is all chaotic.”

Because I think so many of us are.

Not because we’re doing anything wrong.

But because we:

say yes too often

take on too much

try to be everything to everyone

push through when we’re already running on empty

keep adding things to our plate without removing anything.

Multitasking should be our middle name, lols.

And then we wonder why life feels heavy.

But here’s the thing…

If I helped build this chaos… I can also start unbuilding it.

One small decision at a time.

Midlife doesn’t give you perfect conditions (and that’s the point)

One thing I had to accept quickly is that I was never going to have those perfect “morning routine” moments you see online.

No slow, uninterrupted two-hour start to the day.
No peaceful silence.
No perfectly aligned schedule.

Life didn’t look like that for me.

And maybe it doesn’t for you either.

Instead, it looked like:

being interrupted every 5 minutes

helping someone while trying to do something else

working from the kitchen table

juggling everything

trying to find myself in the gaps

So I had to stop trying to build a life that only works in ideal conditions…
and start building one that works in REAL life.

Adding Little routines that actually supported me, not cause more stress

This is where things started to change.

I stopped aiming for “perfect routines” and started creating small, flexible ways that could survive chaos.

Things like:

tiny morning anchors instead of long routines

simple habits I could actually stick to

breathing space between tasks

letting go of all-or-nothing thinking

giving myself permission to do things imperfectly

Because the goal wasn’t to control everything.

It was to stop abandoning myself inside the chaos.

That was the real shift.

When life feels overwhelming, it’s easy to think:

“This is just my life now.”

But it’s not.

You are not stuck in this version forever.
And you are not powerless in it either.

Because even in the busiest, most chaotic seasons of life… you still get to choose:

what you say yes to

what you stop carrying

what you simplify

how you respond instead of react

how you treat yourself in the middle of it all

And those tiny choices?

They add up faster than you think.

A wee question to think on today…

Instead of trying to fix everything at once, try this:

“What’s one thing I could make easier for myself this week?”

Not ten things.
Not a full life overhaul.
Just one.

Because calm doesn’t usually arrive in one big transformation.

It builds… through small, honest decisions.

And if today feels like chaos?

You’re not doing life wrong.
You’re just in the middle of it.

And you’re allowed to make it kinder for yourself

If you’re not in my group yet, here’s a little glimpse into what I do:

I help women, especially in midlife, feel radiant, confident, and like themselves again.

Because let’s be honest… hormones, stress, burnout, menopause, inflammation, oxidative stress, and life changes can really impact how we feel in our skin.

Dryness. Dullness. Puffiness. Loss of firmness. Looking tired no matter how much concealer you use.

And sometimes… it’s not even just the skin.

It’s that feeling of not quite recognising yourself anymore when you look in the mirror.

That’s why I’m passionate about supporting women in a more holistic, inside-out way.

Using science-backed skincare, beauty devices with gentle stimulation and lymphatic support, alongside wellness… I help women support healthier-looking skin naturally while improving glow, circulation, skin vitality, and overall confidence.

Because beauty has evolved far beyond just surface treatments:

supporting the skin barrier

helping reduce the effects of oxidative stress

encouraging healthy lymphatic flow and skin renewal

creating consistent salon-quality results from home

without overwhelm

without harsh approaches

without feeling like you need to “fix” yourself overnight

And for my beauty pro besties:

I also help beauty professionals evolve their treatments more holistically too, blending hands-on expertise with smart beauty technology and modern wellness support.

So your clients get better, longer-lasting results… without everything resting on your energy alone.

Skincare that works with your biology.
Support that builds confidence and consistency.
A more sustainable way of doing beauty in midlife.

Truth bomb, lovely…

You don’t need fixing.
You need support, science, and self-trust, and I’m here for all three.

And maybe… a little reminder to appreciate the skin you’re in while you’re improving it too.

Why Do So Many Women Stop Wearing Bright Colours After 40?

I can’t wear bright colours anymore.”

A few women have said things like this to me lately.

Or…

“I couldn’t wear bold lipstick now.”

And honestly?

Every time I hear it, it makes me a little sad.

Because since when did women start believing there’s an age where they’re supposed to slowly fade into the background?

Who decided confidence had an expiry date?

Somewhere along the way, so many women were taught that getting older meant becoming smaller.

Less visible.

Less expressive.

Less bold.

Less YOU.

And I think many women don’t even realise how much they’ve slowly been shrinking themselves over the years.

Not because they want to…

but because life happens.

Confidence gets chipped away.

Bodies change.

Hormones change.

Energy changes.

And sometimes somewhere between looking after everyone else, going through menopause, stress, work, relationships, motherhood, or simply getting older…

women stop fully seeing themselves properly anymore.

And honestly?

I understand it more than people realise.

After my hysterectomy and early menopause, there were moments I didn’t feel like myself at all.

I remember looking in the mirror feeling tired, flat, drained…

like I’d somehow lost a piece of my sparkle.

Not just physically either.

Internally.

And I think that’s why I feel so passionate now about helping women reconnect with themselves again.

Because it’s never really just about the lipstick.

Or the bright colours.

Or the skincare.

It’s about confidence.

Identity.

Feeling alive in yourself again 🩷

Over the years working in beauty, I’ve realised something really important…

The women who truly glow aren’t always the women with “perfect” skin.

They’re usually the women who finally stop apologising for taking up space.

The women who wear the lipstick.

Post the photo.

Start the business.

Say the opinion.

Book the trip.

Go to the gym.

Learn the new thing.

Try again.

The women who stop waiting for permission.

And no…

confidence doesn’t magically arrive first.

Most confidence is built afterwards.

One brave little decision at a time.

Sometimes confidence looks like going live on Facebook even though your stomach flips.

Sometimes it’s wearing the bright pink jumper you love instead of automatically choosing black again.

Sometimes it’s finally investing in yourself after years of putting yourself last.

And sometimes…

it really is just the lipstick 💄

But maybe the lipstick represents something deeper.

Maybe it’s the part of you that’s been waiting to come back.

Because midlife should not be the chapter where women disappear.

It should be the chapter where women finally come home to themselves again

I think so many women are exhausted from trying to fit into who they think they’re supposed to be.

But the truth is…

You cannot build a life that feels truly yours if you keep living by other people’s opinions.

The women we admire most are often the women who were judged first.

The women people laughed at.

The women who dared to be different anyway.

And honestly?

Maybe the people judging are simply watching someone else dare to do what they’re too afraid to try.

So if this resonates with you, here’s your little Glow Step for today

Ask yourself:

“What would I do this week if I wasn’t worried about being judged?”

Then do ONE small thing.

Wear the colour.

Buy the lipstick.

Post the photo.

Say yes to yourself.

Because confidence doesn’t appear before action…

It grows because of it 🩷

Earlier this week I shared a post about a woman people laughed at on live TV… and how she later became one of the most iconic names in fashion.

And honestly?

I think that’s such a reminder for all of us.

Don’t shrink yourself just because other people feel uncomfortable with boldness, confidence, ambition, or difference.

You do not need to fade with age.

You do not need to become smaller.

And you are absolutely not “too old” to shine.

You don’t need fixing.

You need support, science, self-trust — and permission to stop shrinking yourself to fit other people’s comfort zones.
